I have learned a few tricks that make the bulletin board requirement in teaching a bit more friendly and easy to do. Here is some good information to keep in mind. All bulletin boards fit into one of three categories: Necessary, Curriculum, and Special.
First... Necessary bulletin boards are called necessary because they provide some type of on-going instruction for students and they need to be continuously present in your classroom learning environment. Types of boards that fit into this category are: Word Walls, Calendars, Vocabulary boards, and so forth. See example...

Always give your bulletin board a title or heading!
All classrooms should have evidence of Necessary boards.
All classrooms should have evidence of some Curriculum boards.
Update Necessary boards weekly.
Update Curriculum boards monthly or seasonally (at minimum).
Create Special boards if you have extra time!
